US corn harvest so far behind five-year average
US corn crop was 21% harvested as of October 3, compared with the previous five-year average of 23%, according a Bloomberg report.
An estimated 19% of the soy crop was harvested, up from 5% a week earlier and less than the five-year average of 25% for the date, the USDA said.
About 42% of the winter wheat crop was planted, below the five-year average of 53%, according to the report. A week earlier, 26% of the crop had been sown.
