Brazilian meat exports grow by 52 percent in September
    

 

Brazilian meat exports totalled US$533.2 million in September, 52 percent more than a year before (US$351.5 million).

  

On Friday, 3 October 2008, the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (Abiec) released information saying in terms of volume, the country exported 124.4 million tonnes, 3 percent more than the 120.8 million tonnes exported in September 2007.

  

Fresh meat exports grew 56 percent in September, to US$453.9 million, against US$291.2 million a year earlier. In terms of volume, there was a 5 percent rise, to 103,704.34 tonnes.

 

Year-to-date meat exports grew by 225 against a year ago, to US$3.9 billion. Between January and September 1.02 million tonnes of meat were exported, 16 percent less than the 1.2 million recorded a year before.

 

Abiec expects meat exports to reach US$5.2 billion in 2008 and US$15 billion by 2013.
