Brazil's JBS proposes merger with Marfrig, Minerva

A proposed merger with local rivals Marfrig and Minerva is being sought by Brazil's JBS S/A, according to the Brazilian media.

The move has annoyed the Rousseff administration, which does not like the idea of such a concentration in the Brazilian meatpacking sector, the media said.

In recent years, JBS has made a number of acquisitions in Brazil and overseas to become the world's number one animal protein company.
