Supplies tightened due to an industrial accident in a biotin production plant in late September. Hence, prices firmed up as buyers accumulated inventories amid concerns that biotin supplies would run short.
Ex-factory prices of locally produced biotin were around RMB170/kg. In the general market, transacted prices by major producers were stable at RMB155-172/kg.
Meanwhile, general market prices of imported biotin (10%) were unchanged in the range of RMB780-820/kg.
Tight supplies of biotin are expected to uphold biotin prices.
