Ukraine's seaport grain exports down 23 percent
Ukraine's seaport grain exports reached 1 million tonnes during September 1-22, down 23 percent from the 1.3 million tonnes exported in the same period in August, according to the ProAgro agriculture consultancy on Wednesday (October 1, 2008).
Barley exports fell to 391,200 tonnes in September, from 672,520 tonne in August. Corn shipments also plunged to 3,970 tonnes from 63,680 tonnes, but wheat shipments rose slightly to 595,650 tonnes from 546,670 tonnes.
As of September 26, Ukraine has exported nearly 6 million tonnes of grain in marketing year 2008-09, including 2.92 million tonnes of wheat, 2.65 million tonnes of barley, 421,000 tonnes of corn and 20,400 tonnes of other grains.
