Indonesia's ministry of trade releases Q4 import permits

Indonesia's ministry of trade has finally released permits to importers on Tuesday, following weeks of speculation about fourth quarter cattle import volumes.

Trade sources revealed that the total figure for October to December will be 200,000 head of feeder cattle, in addition to 2,000 productive females.

Speculation has seen prices for feeder steers ex Darwin rise in recent weeks.

Prices for quality, large volume lines of feeder steers are now being quoted at 305c/kg ex Darwin according to a number of sources.

The fourth quarter allocation of permits this year is a drop from the 264,000 cattle in the same period last year, but it is still one of the biggest allocations issued by Indonesia for the final quarter of the year.
