Jilin in China expected to exceed 21 billion kg of corn output

 

 

The output of corn in Jilin, one of the major corn-producing provinces in China, is expected to surpass 21 billion kg ( 21 million tonnes) in 2008.

 

Jilin has introduced and promoted high-quality corn seeds and its coverage could be now up to 100 percent, according to vice governor Wang Shouchen.

 

Corn accounts for 65 percent of the grain acreage in the province presently and 76 percent of its grain output.

 

Nationwide, the province accounts for 12 percent of total corn acreage and 15 percent of total corn output.
