UK seafood companies team up with French retailer to tap Brazilian market
A group of UK seafood companies in the UK are working with French retailer Carrefour to tap the Brazilian seafood market.
Geraldo Antonio Cosentino, perishable director for the north east region for Carrefour, recently met with executives from seafood companies J Marr (Seafood), Simpsons Seafood and Fastnet at the World Trade Centre Hull and Humber (WTC) in the UK, theHull Daily Mail reports.
The Carrefour Group has more than 150 supermarkets in Brazil, a net fish importer.
The meeting was arranged by government agency UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), which regards Brazil as a High Growth Market.
David Lilley, UKTI international trade team manager, said a trade mission would be sent to Brazil in March next year.
Brazil's middle class is also expanding and acquiring a higher spending power and taste for high-quality products, the UKTI said.
