Denmark to increase investment in Russian Agricultural Complex

Danish producers are ready to increase value of direct investments in the Russian agricultural complex (APK), as Eva Hansen, the Danish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food said.

Danish producers have invested about 1 billion rubles (US$40 million) in Russian APK development.

During the negotiations with Aleksey Gordeev, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Hansen said the Danish group is ready to increase its investments.

Some projects are being implemented not only in partnership with Danish specialists but also with direct private investors in Belgorod Region and Krasnodar Territory, Gordeev said.
The main focus of bilateral cooperation currently focuses on pig breeding but the Ministers also discussed the prospects of cooperation in dairy cattle breeding.

Denmark is hoping to export breeding cattle to Russia. Gordeyev said he hoped Russia would be able to use Danish knowledge, technologies and investments to create joint ventures in this field.
The ministers also reached an agreement on implementation of joint projects in bioenergetics and biofuel production from animal waste processing.
