Georgia's corn harvest doubles in 2011
A 65% increase in corn crops is likely to cause Georgia to harvest 464,800 tonnes of corn in 2011, which is about twice as much as 2010, Georgian Agriculture Minister Bakur Kvezereli said Wednesday (Sep 28).
Kvezereli said the hybrid corn programme will bring much profit to peasants and farmers.
For the first time, Georgia will launch corn exports in 2011, Kvezereli added.
The programme will be expanded in 2012 and will be oriented on exports, Kvezereli said.
