Feed millers in Sri Lanka arrested for using edible rice
Some feed millers in Sri Lanka were arrested by the authorities for producing animal feed from rice which is suitable for human consumption.
According to Sri Lankan law it is illegal to sell or stock animal feed made out of rice or paddy suitable for human consumption.
An officer from the Consumer Affairs Authority said on information received by them a raid was carried out at a rice mill in Bendiwewa area where 20,000 kilogrammes of animal feed made from a stock of good quality rice fit for human consumption was detected.
The matter will be taken up by the court.
