Ukraine to agree with the EU on meat export quota
An agreement on an export quota for 92,000 tonnes of meat will be made between Ukraine and the EU, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine told Ukrainian News.
The arrangements were discussed in the course of the 17th round of the talks between Ukraine and the EU on the creation of the free trade area on September 21.
They envisage an export quota for 12,000 tonnes of beef per year without increasing during a five-year period.
The export of frozen chicken carcasses accounts for 20,000 tonnes and that of refrigerated ones for 16,000 tonnes during the first year. The volume is expected to reach 20,000 tonnes for five years.
The poultry meat export is supposed to total 40,000 tonnes in five years.
The negotiators also concluded a preliminary agreement on supply of 40,000 tonnes of pork including 20,000 tonnes of half- and quarter sides.
Mykola Prysiazhniuk, minister of agrarian policy, said Ukraine and the EU reached final agreements on export quotas for Ukrainian products to the EU member states within the framework of the free trade area.
