German pork to make its way to China in 2009
According to a signed agreement between both parties, China will approve the import of German pork into the local market at the beginning of 2009.
German pork exports shall include pig heads, ribs and feet. Although the rate of consumption for these meats are not high, the prices they will be sold for in China will be low as pork is a major staple.
According to pig breeding experts in Tianjin, since Germany uses a different way of breeding and slaughtering pigs from China, there might be a slightly different taste between German pork and domestic pork.
Due to the minimal market share German pork exports currently hold, they will mainly be sold at guesthouses and hotels.
