Vietnam's southern province attacked by FMD, bird flu
Thousands of domestic animals and poultry in the Vietnamese southern province of Long An are affected by the recurrence of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and bird flu.
Nearly 750 pigs were infected with FMD in Vinh Cong and Hiep Thanh communes of Chau Thanh district.
Bird flu has also been spreading in the district, killing 1,950 out of 3,000 infected fowls. The remaining fowls were forced to be buried.
In mid-Sep, bird flu disease broke out in the northern province of Thai Binh and the central provinces of Quang Ngai and Quang Tri while FMD hit two districts of the central province of Nghe An.
