EU, China reach agreement on pork trade issues
The EU and China reached agreement on several trade issues, including that of pork, during meetings this week in Beijing, according to the European Commission.
The meetings between EU trade commissioner Peter Mandelson and Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming have sped up negotiations on safety requirements for EU pork exports to China, the Commission said.
The EU and China also agreed to draw up a study on "geographical indications", an area of trade law that prevents manufacturers from making false claims about product origins.
