Australian regulator accredits two more bulk wheat exporters

Regulator Wheat Exports Australia announced on Thursday (September 25, 2008) that two more appropriate companies have been accredited to export bulk wheat, bringing the total number to 15.

The two are Riverina (Australia) Pty Ltd. and Pentag Commodities Pty Ltd.

WEA’s acting chief executive Peter Woods said in a statement that in order to become accredited under new arrangements introduced on July 1, exporters are required to prove their eligibility through satisfying the criteria.

He warned growers and others in the industry that they need to be aware that accreditation doesnot indemnify exporters or provide any guarantees relating to contracts or payments of any kind. Therefore, it is important for growers to exercise prudential judgment in decisions surrounding the sales and marketing of their wheat.

WEA is continuing to assess other applications.
