Minister urges India's central government to establish feed mill in Meghalaya state
Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Alexander Laloo Hek has called on India's central government to establish a feed mill in the state of Meghalaya, northeast of the country, to reduce costs for local farmers, Highland Post reported.
The request was made during a recent meeting with central government officials and ministers.
Hek highlighted the need for the state to have its own feed mill, explaining that farmers in Meghalaya are currently reliant on feed from other states, resulting in higher prices for local farmers.
"If we have our own feed mill, we can supply animal feed to our farmers at a subsidised rate, which will benefit the farmers of the state," Hek stated.
The minister's appeal underscores the importance of the initiative in lowering costs and supporting the state's agricultural sector.
