Elanco celebrates IPO's anniversary
Elanco Animal Health publicly marked on September 18 the first anniversary of its initial public offering (IPO) on September 20, 2018, and its transformation into an independent public company.
In the past year, Elanco has advanced its innovation, portfolio and productivity (IPP) strategy designed to broaden its portfolio and pipeline to bring new solutions to farmers, veterinarians and pet owners.
"As we celebrate Elanco's first anniversary as a fully independent, dedicated animal health company, we're fulfilling the promises made during our IPO to customers," said Jeff Simmons, president and chief executive officer of Elanco. "In my 30 years in this business, animal health and agriculture have never been more relevant or had more opportunity to impact our customers and society at large."
As a dedicated animal health company, Elanco has strengthened its customer focus and advocacy efforts in two ways: delivering innovation and portfolios for customers that meet their challenges; and, elevating the public conversation on the critical role healthy animals play in the health of people and the planet.
Over the past year, the company added new innovation to its pipeline in the areas of vaccines, enzymes and companion animal therapeutics.
Additionally, Elanco's most recent announcement to acquire Bayer AG's animal health business strengthens and accelerates the company's proven IPP strategy. Elanco's strong focus on greater speed, agility, and ability to allocate its investments, have helped customers face their toughest challenges, the company said.
Elanco also established Elanco's Healthy PurposeTM, its corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework, advancing the well-being of animals, people and the planet and enabling the company to realise its vision of "Food and Companionship Enriching Life." It underscores the company's belief that healthy animals are key to solving some of the world's most pressing issues, such as food security and nutrition, human health and well-being, and environmental sustainability, Elanco said.
As a central part of Elanco's commitment to addressing these issues, the company has launched a call to rediscover the power of healthy animals. The effort is designed to put the importance of helping animals lead healthier lives in critical conversations about food and nutrition security, human emotional and physical well-being and the sustainability of the planet.
"Our business is built on the belief that that animals are the 'x-factor' society has been looking for – the unexpected, game-changing variable that we believe will unlock solutions to seemingly disconnected issues. Healthier animals, from cats to cows, are pivotal to our mental health, physical health and the health of our planet. It's time we rediscovered and leaned into the benefits of pets and protein on a healthy lifestyle," Simmons said.
