EC approves JBS acquisition of poultry meat supplier Moy Park 

     
 

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of the UK-based Moy Park (Holdings) Europe Limited by JBS S.A. of Brazil. The EC approval was necessary under the EU merger regulation.

Moy Park is a supplier of fresh and processed poultry meat and is active particularly in the UK and Ireland while JBS is the world's largest meat processing company.

The EC concluded that the proposed acquisition raised no competition concerns because of the parties' limited market shares and the small market share increments brought by the transaction.

Numerous alternative suppliers will also continue to be active in the markets concerned by the transaction, which was examined under the simplified merger procedure.
