China's Anhui targets farmland expansion in 2011-2015
Anhui province plans to expand its technology-oriented farmland project to 82.5 million mu during the 12 Five-Year Plan period.
The move is expected to bring in an increase of 2.5 million tonnes in grain output, potentially generating RMB5 billion (US$782.5 million) in economic benefit to the province.
As one of the six main grain-producing provinces in China, Anhui province had increased 7.59 million tonnes of grain output in the 11 Five-Year Plan period.
