Ukraine's grain harvest this year to hit 50 million tonnes
Ukraine's grain harvest could hit 50 million tonnes this year and 20 million tonnes could be exported, according to Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Yuriy Melnyk.
He said that they predict 54.5 million tonnes of grain taking into account remaining grain reserves at 5.5 million tonnes, and are planning to use around 6.6 million tonnes for food purposes and 14.7 million tonnes for cattle breeding.
Ukraine plans to export around 22 million tonnes of grain this marketing year.
They had exported 3.2 million tonnes of grain since the beginning of the current marketing year (from July 1, 2008), including 1.5 million tonnes in August.
