China Wheat Exports To Recover In 2003

Chinese wheat exports are expected to reach 1.7 million to 1.8 million tonnes this year, said officials at China's top grains trading firm COFCO Wednesday.

Total exports expected this year include 700,000 tonnes of milling feed, said COFCO wheat division's executive director, Liu Fu Chun.

"We can still reach 100 million tonnes (annual wheat output) in the next two to three years," Yang Hong, general manager of COFCO's wheat division, said.

China's 2002 wheat output was 87 million tonnes.
