Russia harvests 95.3 million tonnes of grain
   

 

Russia harvested 95.3 million tonnes of grain to September 15 on 36.1 million hectares, which is 78 percent of the total grain planted area, with the average yield of 2.64 tonnes a hectare, the agriculture ministry reported Monday (September 15).

 

The amount of grain harvested to date was 21.3 million tonnes more on-year, with the average yields exceeding those reported on the same date last year by 0.48 tonnes a hectare.

 

Wheat harvest to date was 65.5 million tonnes, 11.5 million tonnes more than on the same date last year, on 20.5 million hectares or 76.6 percent of the total area to be harvested, with the average yield of 2.74 tonnes a hectare, which is 0.44 tonnes/ha more than a year ago.

 

The total grain planted area to be harvested this year is 47 million hectares, 2 million hectares more than last year.

 

Russia's agriculture ministry said it expected this year's grain harvest at 95 million tonnes in clean weight, 13 million tonnes more than in 2007.
