US resumes beef imports from Brazil

The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the USDA have authorised the resumption of beef imports from 21 Brazilian meat packing plants.

The ban was put in place on processed meats three weeks ago, after there were discrepancies found in documentation, on shipments of meat arriving in the US.

The matters now have been resolved and as indicated last week, normal service has been resumed.

However, Brazil can only export cooked and processed beef to the US.
