Vietnam seafood exports at US$3 billion
Of late, Vietnam's seafood exports have reached US$3 billion from seafood, reports the Ha Noi Moi newspaper citing figures from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The figure represents an on-year increase of 20%, the association said.
The global growing demand for seafood has caused the country's export revenues to rise from US$5.2 billion in 2010 to US$5.5 billion this year as forecasted by the VASEP.
The association also said that the material shortages for seafood processing plants will prolong until the beginning of the next year.
Regarding shrimp production, the VASEP said the country will produce 200,000 tonnes of white-leg shrimp and 300,000 tonnes of prawn shrimp.
Meanwhile, European countries will double its demand for Vietnam-produced pangasius fish fillet in the third quarter.
