UK eases soil rules to aid grain farmers' harvest

The UK government said Wednesday (September 10) it will temporarily relax rules regarding the use of farm vehicles on wet or waterlogged land in order to ease access to crops.

According to UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the exemption from the rules designed to protect soil from damage will be implemented until October 4.

"We need to do all we can to help the harvest and I hope this decision will go some way to assist farmers who have been most affected," Environment Secretary Hillary Benn said.
