Brazil's pork exports up 5.3% in August
Brazil's August pork exports rose 5.3% on year at US$122.09 million due to an increase in average export prices by 9.46%, said Brazilian pork export association, or Abipecs on Thursday.
However, volume shipments in August were 3.8% lower than a year before at 45,887 tonnes. Sales to Russia, the main buyer of Brazilian meat products, slipped 87.4% to 2,922 tonnes, while Ukraine imported 11,959 tonnes, 197% more than in August 2010.
This year through August, pork exports advanced 7.4% in revenue, to US$951.21 million, but fell 3.41% in volume, to 34,884 tonnes, Abipecs said.
