Ukraine may sell grains to Japan
Ukraine is in talks with Japan for a possible grain exports this year which would be also distributed among traditional customers approximately in the same proportion as in the 2008-09 marketing year, according to Vadym Kopylov, Ukraine's First Deputy Minister of Economic Development a.
In the 2008-2009 marketing season, Ukraine exported up to five million tonnes of grain to EU countries, two million tonnes to Egypt, nearly one million tonnes to Tunisia, two million tonnes to Iran, one million tonnes to Bangladesh, 1.5 million tonnes to Israel, 1.35 million tonnes to Korea, 1.13 million tonnes to the Philippines, and 2.6 million tonnes to Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said that grain exports from Ukraine in the 2011-2012 marketing year could reach 23 million tonnes. Ukraine introduced grain export duties on July 1, 2011.
