South Dakota promotes soy to China, Vietnam

The South Dakota Soy Research and Promotion Council, together with South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture, Walt Bones, is heading towards China and Vietnam on Tuesday (Sep 6) to promote their soy products.

The 10-day trade mission will begin in Southern China where the team will meet with grain importers and processors, as well as tour their facilities. China is the largest export market for US soy with over 735 million bushels exported during the most recent marketing year, which is 56% of all US exports.

In Vietnam, the South Dakota group will tour poultry, swine and aquaculture facilities. Feed mills are one of the primary users of soy and soymeal in Vietnam, producing feed for livestock and aqua farms. Vietnam is now the largest importer of soymeal in Asia at about 2.8 million tonnes.
