UK poultry company to salvage processing facility

UK poultry company, Cappoquin Chickens, have entered into a liquidation but are looking for ways to salvage its Co Waterford facility.

Cappoquin Chickens processes some 220,000 birds per week, but went into liquidation after a loss of up to US$10.1 million.

The High Court allowed the company to continue trading for six weeks after liquidator Aidan O'Connell of Deloitte Touche said he hoped the company would process and sell its stock of 1.3 million chickens, which would earn more than US$720,500.

Meanwhile, Cappoquin's executives have begun discussions with O'Connell to try to come up with an investment plan to save the plant.
