Approximately 11,750 birds have been affected with bird flu in Quang Tri province and 10,000 have been destroyed.

Bird flu has recently recurred in some localities in Quang Tri province and the Veterinary Centre of Hai Lang district coordinated with the Hai Tan communal People's Committee to destroy 2,500 ducks. This is the fourth flock of ducks that were culled this August in Hai Tan commune.

The provincial Department of Animal Health reported that, by the end of August, bird flu recurred in more than 11 flocks of ducks in Lam Xuan, Ky Truc, KP7, Gio Linh communes in Gio Linh district, and Cau Nhi, Van Tri, and Thien Dong communes in Hai Lang district.

The department is directing veterinary centres to implement measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Since early August, the department has vaccinated more than 125,000 birds.
