More than 10,000 animals affected by ASF outbreaks in Bulgaria



Two farms in Bulgaria have reported African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in 2021 so far, affecting a total of 13,124 susceptible animals.


The country's first reported ASF outbreak in domesticated pigs this year occurred on July 17 in Varna. The farm had 124 susceptible animals. The second outbreak in pigs occurred on a large farm with 13,000 animals in Pazardzhik on August 17.


As of August 13, 192 outbreaks in wild boar have been reported in Bulgaria this year.
