Russian grain exports reach 5.8 million tonnes

 

 

Since the start of the present marketing year on July 1, Russia had exported 5.8 million tonnes of grain, according to the Russian Grain Union on Friday (Sep 2).

 

Exports in July and August totalled 2.6 million tonnes and 3.2 million tonnes respectively.

 

The union forecasts total grain exports in the 2011-12 marketing year at 25 million tonnes, with the harvest prospects at 90 million tonnes.

 

Last year's harvest fell to 60.9 million tonnes, from 97.1 million tonnes in 2009, due to a severe drought.
