Croatian wheat harvest to reach 780,000 tonnes

 

 

Croatia's wheat yield may amount 780,000 tonnes this year, 15% more than last year's harvest, according to preliminary estimates unveiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics.

 

The early estimates of the yield of the more important crops show that this year's wheat, barley and oil rape yields have increased in relation to last year.

 

Wheat was sown on an area of 150,000 hectares and the expected yield is 5.2 tonnes per hectare or 780,000 tonnes in total, 15% more than last year.

 

Barley was sown on an area of 51,000 hectares, the estimated yield is 4.5 tonnes per hectare or 230,000 tonnes in total, 33% more than last year.

 

The oil rape yield has increased by 21% to 40,000 tonnes. Oil rape was sown on an area of 15,000 hectares, and the estimated yield per hectare is 2.7 tonnes.

 

The oats yield is estimated at 45,000 tonnes, 7% less than last year. Oats was sown on 18,000 hectares of land, and the estimated yield per hectare is 2.5 tonnes.
