Argentina's poultry exports gained sharply from January through July, rising 29 percent in volume and 58 percent in value on-year.

Exports during the period totalled 102,780 tonnes, valued at US$152 million, the agricultural sanitation and quality service, Senasa, said in a release Thursday (September 4).

Fresh poultry exports totalled 71,635 tonnes valued at US$112 million. Chile was the top market for fresh-poultry exports, followed by Venezuela and South Africa.

China and Hong Kong led imports of Argentine poultry feet, wings, and other parts.

Processed-poultry exports during the period totalled 2,046 tonnes, an 18-percent on-year decrease in volume, Senasa said. Germany and Holland were the leading buyers of Argentina's processed-poultry shipments in the first half of the year.
