Canada sees more wheat downgraded to feed quality
Canada is seeing greater volumes of feed wheat as unfavourable weather has seen more wheat grains being downgraded to feed level as the harvest progresses, according to the Canadian Wheat Board.
Canadian Wheat Board weather and market analysis director Bruce Burnett says feed wheat supplies are heavily influenced by the weather and heavy rains during the past weekend have caused some downgrading of wheat into the feed category.
The same situation is repeated in much of the northern hemisphere, where the EU and Russia are also seeing more of their harvest being downgraded to feed.
Although the US wheat crop has escaped relatively unscathed, feed users are using more wheat due to higher corn prices.
