Brazil's Sadia to open facility in Abu Dhabi

Brazilian food company Sadia SA will open its second overseas unit in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, the company said Wednesday (September 3).

The Middle East is Sadia's main market for its chicken products, accounting for nearly a third of the company's foreign sales.

The new facility will produce around 50,000 tonnes of both chicken and beef products, with total investment costs estimated to be around BRL150 million (US$89.8 million).

Sadia opened its first facility abroad in 2007 in Kaliningrad, Russia. A third facility is in the works, but the geographic location has yet to be decided upon.

Sadia is one of Brazil's leading food companies and brands. It mostly sells fresh chicken and processed chicken meat in Brazil and around the world.
