Australian milk output climbs almost 1% on-year
The milk production in Australia ended last season a bit ahead against on-year, 0.9% higher than the previous season, whereas for the month of June production was up 0.6% compared with June 2010.
Tasmania recorded a rise in June. However, New South Wales and Queensland continue to track behind production in June and year-to-date volume, according to Dairy Australia figures.
Year-to-date Victorian milk volume was 2.1% higher at 5.9 billion litres, while June production increased 1.6% compared with June 2010.
Gippsland production was down 2% for June, but was 5% ahead year-to-date at 2.1 billion litres.
Northern Victoria finished the season 0.2% down at 1.7 billion litres, while western Victoria was 1.2% more at 2.1 billion litres.
Tasmania produced 722 million litres for the season, 7.1% more than last season, while South Australia was down 5.5% at 572 million litres.
In New South Wales, production was down 2.7% at slightly more than one billion litres.
