Brazil's August beef exports up 11.3% on-year
The beef exports of Brazil rose 9.8% in August against July to hit US$347.4 million, but were also 11.3% lower than 2010, as shown in data from the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
In volume, beef shipments increased 5% versus July, but declined 31.3% on the year, to 65,900 tonnes.
Pork exports rose 32% in revenue versus July, to US$108.7 million, and were also 29% bigger in volume, to 38,700 tonnes. Compared with the year before, pork shipments in August were virtually flat in revenue and fell 7.64% in volume.
Chicken exports in August totalled US$590.5 million in revenue, up 6.3% from July and 12.3% higher than in August 2010. In volume, sales stood at 318,200 tonnes, versus 276,900 tonnes in July and 315,300 tonnes in August last year.
