Zhengzhou and Luohe in Henan are China's first inland ports for meat imports

The authorities have officially announced that the two ports located in Zhengzhou and Luohe, central Henan, which are designated for meat imports have been recently approved, making Henan the first inland port for meat imports.

The Zhengzhou port will replace coastal ports like Shanghai, Qingdao and Tianjin to perform customs clearance on meat imported by Henan province, estimated to cut down logistics costs by RMB1,000 (US$157.36) per tonne of meat.

Costing a total investment of RMB150 million (US$23.6 million), the Zhengzhou meat port is designed to clear customs for 1,200 tonnes of frozen meat per day.
