The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association has purchased 53,170 tonnes of US wheat in a tender on Thursday (Sep 1), European traders said.
It was for shipment in the first half of October. The seller was said to be Columbia Grain. Only US wheat had been sought in the tender.
Traders said the FOB purchases included 25,750 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat with 14.5% protein at US$411.61 per tonne, 11,400 tonnes of hard red winter with 13% protein at US$388.70 a tonne, 2,200 tonnes of northern spring with 13% protein at US$398.38 a tonne, as well as 13,820 tonnes of western white with 9% protein at US$279.48 per tonne.
Shipping costs for the purchase were said to be US$35.33 a tonne in addition to the FOB price. Shipment is from the US Pacific Northwest to Taiwan.
