China's soy crushing this week is likely to accelerate following a rebound in soymeal and soyoil prices, bringing positive margins for some crushers for the first time this year.
Oil processing plants are likely to crush more than 1.3 million tonnes of soy this week, up from 1.1 million tonnes last week, China National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC) said Thursday (Sep 1).
The higher crushing volume coupled with low imports - estimated at 4.5 million tonnes for August - would reduce soy inventories at ports, which stood at 7.28 million tonnes by the end of last week, it said at a report.
China, the world's largest soy buyer, imported 5.35 million tonnes in July.
The price rises reflected higher seasonal demand ahead of holidays in the middle of September and early October.
