Brazil's chicken export continues 3-month slide
Brazil's chicken export in August fell compared to July, shipping 296,700 tonnes compared to 306,100 tonnes in July, the Foreign Trade Ministry said Monday (September 1, 2008).
This is the third month volumes have been sliding, although revenue has remained high.
Brazil's chicken export revenue for the month of August was US$605.4 million compared to US$589.2 million in July.
Moreover, August export volume was still above the 275,800 tonnes a year ago, said the ministry.
In June, Brazil exported 330,000 tonnes of chicken, 27 percent more than the same month last year.
May's chicken export was 361,000 tonnes up 31 percent from May 2007.
