Irish beef offal gaining foothold in China
Ireland has become one of China's sources of offal. A recent report said it exports beef offal to Asia's largest economy that is worth around €8 million (US$9.012 million) yearly.
Data showed that in 2013 Ireland exported €7.8 million worth of edible beef offal to China, representing around 2% of total Chinese imports.
The value of beef offal export rose to €8.6 million ($9.7 million) in 2014 despite only a modest 85-tonne increase in export volume.
Meanwhile, Irish exports of frozen beef on the bone to China in the first semester of this year have been reported to have already surpassed the total 2014 export.
