ForFarmers to invest US$15.3 million in UK feed mill re-development
ForFarmers has announced its plan to build a new manufacturing facility on its Exeter site, possibly creating one of the largest and most efficient feed mills in the UK.
The new facility will be built as replacement for an existing one.
The site represents an investment in excess of US$15.3 million and will take up to 18 months to be completed. This development is consistent with the ForFarmers Horizon 2020 strategy in providing a full range of top quality nutritional solutions to farming customers.
"Our customers will benefit from a state-of-the-art production facility second to none in the UK, which will produce products with superior product quality and with a new level of efficiency within the UK industry," said Iain Gardner, the COO of ForFarmers UK.
ForFarmers intends to combine the current Exeter blend plant and compound mill. This would create a high-capacity multi-species production facility capable of manufacturing up to 300,000 tonnes per annum, beyond the current capacity of 150,000 tonnes.
According to ForFarmers, the project will also result in improved feed safety and staff welfare as well as providing sustainability benefits due to better energy efficiency.
A major investment in the South West of the UK, the site re-affirms ForFarmers' support to its customer base in the area.
