Vietnam's Jan-Aug seafood exports may rise 26.7%
Vietnam is projected to have earned US$3.775 billion from seafood exports in the first eight months of 2011, reflecting an on-year rise of 26.7%, the government's General Statistics Office (GSO) said last week.
In August, the country's seafood exports are expected at US$590 million, compared with US$559 million in July, the GSO said.
During Jan-Aug, the Southeast Asian country has spent US$305 million on imports of aquatic materials, including US$50 million in August and US$43 million in July, the statistics showed.
Exports of seafood brought about US$5 billion to Vietnam last year. The country expects the exports to rise to US$5.5 billion this year.
