Australia's New South Wales cattle count decrease
The cattle output of New South Wales across physical markets lowered by 19% compared with the previous week.
Welcome rainfall late last week was the main factor reducing turnoff, with markets held early this week particularly affected.
The reduction in cattle numbers was most apparent through the Hunter Valley and Northern Tablelands as several markets were a fraction of the normal size. Tamworth, Scone and Armidale all failed to field 500 head, with only 160 consigned at Armidale.
Throughput was lower at most New South Wales markets, although numbers at Dubbo were 5% higher on-week as producers took advantage of the dearer price trend created by the supply shortages.
