Soy production in China's Heilongjiang up nearly 50 percent
Soy output in China's Heilongjiang province is expected to reach 9.551 million tonnes, growing 47.5 percent over a year earlier.
Soy yields are expected to reach 131 kilogrammes per mu in 2008, rising 25.4 percent over a year earlier.
Soy planting in the province has been greatly expanded this year, rising 17.7 percent over the previous year to 72.9 million mu, thanks to soaring soy prices which stoked farming interest.
In addition, the northeastern province has been developing wasteland into farmlands in recent years.
