Suppliers' quotes

Price quotes of US feed-grade whey stayed in the range of US$529-705/tonne over the week.

Market analysis

Increased hog disease rates decimated feed sales, dampening the buying interest for whey, which was already weak due to low piglet inventories. In efforts to move sales, traders in some regions lowered prices of whey.

Market forecast

Whey market will be under pressure as feed demand softens due to the higher infection rates. Although whey traders will stand firm due to high import costs, the upward scope of the market will be limited.
