Russia exports 60 percent more grain than last year
    

 

Russia's grain exports have amounted to 3.9 million tonnes so far this year, which is 60 percent more than the same period last year, Deputy Agriculture Ministry Andrei Slepnev said Wednesday (August 28, 2008).

 

In 2007, Russia's grain exports were at 12.7 million tonnes.

 

Russia's grain harvest has amounted to 78.3 million tonnes so far this year, which is nearly 40 percent percent higher than in the same period of last year, Slepnev also said. The ministry is forecasting a harvest of 95 million tonnes this year, which is about 16 percent up from 82 million tonnes harvested last year.
